I was perusing Justin Taylor’s blog and came across a post he recirculated authored by Ray Ortlund in which Mr Ortlund (a pastor in Nashville, TN) outlines in bullet form a biblical evaluation of gossip and the evilness of this “acceptable” sin. Too many times have I initiated conversations via seemingly “innocent” questions or statements only to know that the reality of my intentions were anything but godly.  This has been a sin that I have repeatedly had to ask the Lord Jesus to forgive me for – and as Jesus was the only One who had no deceit upon His lips I’m thankful that when the Lord looks upon my lips He sees not a tongue that dabbles in gossip or malicious talk but Christ who paid the penalty for my gossiping tongue.  Read and do so with circumspection.
