6 Benefits of Scripture Memory & Meditation

Growing Up

1. Meditation and memorization keep you from sin. “I have stored up Your Word in my heart, that I might not sin against You” (Psalm 119: 11).

2. Meditation and memorization transform your thinking. “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind” (Romans 12: 2).

3. Meditation and memorization equip you to share your testimony “But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you” (1 Peter 3: 15).

4. Meditation and memorization provide direction for your life. “Your Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path” (Psalm 119: 105).

5. Meditation and memorization produce spiritual growth in your life. “And now I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified” (Acts 20: 32).

6. Meditation and memorization equip you to fight temptation. “And the tempter came and said to him, ‘If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread.’ But he answered, ‘It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God’” (Matthew 4: 3-4).

  1. Ten years ago, when I worked well as an instructor in Chinese suppliers, I chose to make use of my free time throughout the day by trying to remember Holy bible paragraphs. I’d create a line or a passing on a catalog cards and take it out throughout the day whenever I wasn’t doing anything else. In just a few years’ time, I had commited to storage over a million paragraphs from God’s term — whole paragraphs and even sections from the Holy bible were closed in storage and doing their work in my center.

  2. You need someone to help you with your translation to English here because as stated, clearly there are errors in your description.

For one, since there are less than a million WORDs in the entire Bible, there are FAR less than “a million paragraphs” in the Bible!!

And 2nd, for you have to achieved this many passages in only a few years, a very incredible feat – how in the world did you do any work at all … not even a lonely security guard has that much “free time throughout the day” !!

I’m also curious how much, if any, you still have memorized to this day?
