Graceland Gospel Reading Plan: Day 1

Today is the first day of our church’s Bible reading plan. Today we’re reading Mark 1. Here is one observation from my time in reading Mark 1:

I’m struck by the openness people felt to approach Jesus; this is in stark contrast to the religious leaders. In Mark 1:41 a leper came to Him asking for healing and the Bible tells us that Jesus was moved with pity or compassion. Compassion always moves towards people. Jesus moved towards the leper. He genuinely cared for people. The healing of the leper is one example of the inbreaking of the Kingdom of God: Jesus, as the King, has power over sickness.

In my time with Jesus, I voiced a simple prayer of gratitude that Jesus moved towards me rather than away from me. May that truth encourage your heart today.

Day 1 finished. Keep going! You can do this!
