Graceland Reading Plan: Mark 6, rejection, Jesus, and you.

One simple observation from Mark 6: Those who desire to live a godly life will be persecuted, experience rejection, pushback, or opposition (2 Timothy 3:12).

Jesus reminds His audience and now reminds you and me as we read Mark 6 that even He experienced rejection — often this came from His own family. He makes the statement, “A prophet is not without honor, except in his hometown and among his relatives and in His own household” (Mark 6:4). Further, Jesus “marveled because of their unbelief.”

Two thoughts concerning rejection:

  1. Take a moment and ask the Spirit of God to search out your heart and expose any area where you’re not believing in Jesus. We automatically think of those who have yet to yield their lives to Jesus as the context of Mark, but often we exude rejection, whether outright or subtle, in various areas of our lives.
  2. Is it possible that there is fruit in your life that Jesus wants you to experience but haven’t because of areas of unbelief, doubt, or outright rejection?

Keep going, Graceland!
