A strategy is a plan of action designed to achieve a major goal or overall aim.

strategy

First, what is a strategy?

  • A strategy is a picture of how ministry fits together.
  • It’s a pattern that demonstrates how the church will accomplish its mandates as it moves.
  • It can be likened to a lazy river where there is constant movement in a believer’s life.

What is our proposed strategy at Foothills?

  • Worship – Grow – Serve – Equip

Worship

  • Matthew 22:34-40; Romans 12:1-2; Hebrews 10:24-25.
  • When I say worship I’m referring to the gathering of God’s people once/week to worship and celebrate the resurrection of Jesus and our love for who He is and what He’s done in our lives and to spur one another on towards a godly life.

Grow

  • Hebrews 5:13-15; Colossians 1:28-29
  • Salvation is both a moment and a process; the process is a progressive work of God and man that makes a Christian more and more free from sin and like Jesus in their actual life. To grow at Foothills would look like being connected to a Growth Group, which are smaller groups of Christians that get together for prayer, study of the Word, encouragement, confession, hospitality, etc.

Serve

  • Mark 10:45; Romans 12; 1 Corinthians 12;
  • Inviting people to use their skills, gifts, and experiences to serve Jesus, the church and our community. Thus, serving isn’t necessarily only something you do on a Sunday morning but can be something you’re doing in your neighborhood, place of recreation, etc., as you’re serving people in the name and spirit of Jesus, whether it be in words or actions.

Equip

  • Ephesians 4:12-16; 2 Timothy 2:1-2
  • Equipping the saints for the work of the ministry. This would look like inviting people to take the next step in becoming a leader/influencer in the church.

Summary/explanation:

  • So if “Joe Smith” comes to Foothills what is our process that we’re proposing to put forth to help Joe “engage people to put Jesus first for the sake of others”? First, it’s to see him attend our worship service, then to grow in his walk with Jesus as he participates in a Growth Group. Next, we’d encourage Joe to serve either on or off campus and then be equipped to develop a particular skill in order to become more of an influencer/leader in the church and the community.
  • Again, our proposed strategy is Worship – Grow – Serve – Equip.
