In reviewing Justin Taylor’s blog tonight I came across an intriguing link to a video that is perplexing and humorous, but ultimately very eye-opening to the calling that pastors have – and that calling is not to make individuals in the pew laugh, but to steadfastly and honestly preach the word of God, which is…
Dr. Russell Moore, Dean of the School of Theology at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY and author of “Moore to the Point,” writes a great article concerning David Letterman and his recent “confession” on his show the other night. I watched snippets of the show, but didn’t know what to make of it…
Watch this video and prayerfully consider how you might be involved in carrying what James tells us is “pure and undefiled religion” (James 1:27). As an individual who became a parent through the wonderful process of adoption I’m extremely thankful for the Christian Alliance for Orphans and their work in exposing people to the mandate to…
For me the issue of alcohol is not a very complex issue and it has been a airly easy decision to abstain from alcohol. And by the grace of God, alcohol has not been a vice in my life whatsoever, but I know a lot of people where this is not the case. In fact, I have…
A good word from Ray Ortlund on an individual’s committment to the church – read, reflect and enjoy.

Too many times have I initiated conversations via seemingly “innocent” questions or statements only to…
I want to recommemd an e-book by Mark Driscoll with the abovementioned title that deals candidly and forthrightly with issues that are plauging men, particularly that of pornography. However, let me preface my recommendation with a slight word of caution – Mark Driscoll speaks with a frankness that is not for the faint of heart. To read…
Transitions are always bitter-sweet; well, I shouldn’t say always because that does assume that the place the individual is transitioning from is one they love, which is the premise of my description of transitions as “bitter-sweet.” Recently, my family has undergone several transitions. However, those transitions will not be the topic of this post –…
In preparation for my eventual transition as a Senior Pastor, I’ve made it a habit of asking men in my life whom I respect and have mentored, challenged, and encouraged me over the years what advice they would give me as I seek to prepare for this exciting and challenging soon-to-arrive time in my life. One such man is Dr. Lawless. When…
